Keto Eggnog Recipe: A Holiday Treat with a Twist

Intro to Keto Eggnog

During the holidays, does your family make homemade eggnog? It’s a holiday favorite for many. It also has a lot of unwanted calories, carbs, and sugar. This Keto Eggnog recipe gets rid of all of those things without giving up any of the rich, creamy flavors in this traditional drink.

What’s in This Keto Eggnog Recipe?

While eggnog is traditionally made with rum or bourbon, it’s not a necessary element in this keto eggnog version. If you would like to add a bit less, or leave it out altogether, feel free!

How to Make Keto Eggnog

Ingredients:

  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup Swerve (or other sugar substitute)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Optional: rum or bourbon (to taste)

Instructions:

  1. Whisk the eggs and Swerve together until they become light and airy.
  2. Combine the heavy cream, almond milk, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt in a saucepan until it reaches a simmer.
  3. Take about 1/4 cup of the milk mixture and pour it into the egg mixture, whisking the entire time. Repeat a couple of more times, and then add the egg mixture into the saucepan with the remaining milk.
  4. Remove the eggnog from heat and add in the vanilla. You can also add in rum or bourbon, if desired.
  5. Serve the keto eggnog warm or chilled. Keep in mind that chilled eggnog will be thicker than warm eggnog. You can garnish with a bit of nutmeg and a cinnamon stick to give it a holiday feel.

Storing and Serving

If you have leftovers, you can store it in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week. Make sure to give it a good stir before you drink it again. Happy holidays!
